Friday, January 20th from 2 until 5pm. As part of the ScienceOnline2012 convention, Carl Zimmer will be at Dogstar for a book signing celebrating his new publication Science Ink. We’re welcoming visiting scientists from the convention for an afternoon of science based tattooing, and Carl will be giving a presentation on his book. Come help us celebrate!  We’re finally open for business in our permanent space at Golden Belt. Join us Friday, June 17th between 6 and 11pm for an event packed evening! We are honored to have Beverly Botsford’s group ‘Drums Alive’ kick off the evening as Center Studio Architecture and Dogstar staff present our new space. Center Studio is serving their signature 5 Points martinis while Dogstar assists Dave Alsbrook’s raffle  for an art auction including a $100 tattoo session from Dogstar. Find out more details on Dave’s super cool project by searching ‘New Neighbors’ on facebook. We’re also still working on our own project Tattoo for Japan throughout the evening. Party outside as we take over the visitor parking lot for the night to host two other bands that are graciously playing for our opening; Beloved Binge and Blood Red River in that order. Many thanks to them for playing! Fullsteam will be there serving Rocket Science IPA, El Toro Creme Ale, and Hogwash hickory smoked porter free to the party attendants! Parlez Vous Crepe, The Parlour, and Only Burger will be on site selling a variety of fabulous food truck fare. Remember to bring cash as they aren’t set up to take cards. We also have activities planned outside for those of you bringing kids, temporary tattoos, sidewalk chalk, water guns, etc. Additionally, our party coincides with a third Friday at Golden Belt so you can tour the artist studio spaces with  many of them present to greet the public. Hey all. We’ve teamed up with Stephanie Tippett of  The Love Shack in Creedmoor. Both shops have thrown our time and resources towards those in need in Japan! We are offering the kanji symbol for love for only $20. This is half our normal minimums in hopes that you will come in to participate. All proceeds are going to the Red Cross which is currently housing a huge number of people. Please call the shop for details and an appointment or at least pass the word along! 307 Knox and Dogstar will be hosting a benefit party for the Durham Rescue Mission downtown at the Pinhook, Dec. 17th /7:30pm. DJ Dude Femme is doing a mash up of local artists followed by Nick D-50 v.s. Hard Science.

We’re raffling off a $300 tattoo session, vinyl, Fullsteam messenger bag and a skate package from ratStar Skateshop. Local beer on tap. We’re closing the shop at 6pm so join us downtown!

Hello all. We’ve managed to move in and out of Ninth Street with only 5 days down time! The space at Golden Belt is now open for business, albeit at a limited capacity.  It’s a bit bare boned at this time, but we’ll be putting the finishing touches on the new space soon.
